Protective gardening-wear that every good gardener should own
Protective Gardening Wear for 2016
Your garden may look like a relatively safe environment but when it comes to keeping on top of your garden maintenance, there are a number of potential hazards that you could be faced with.
So here’s a handy list outlining the protective gardening-wear that every good gardener should always have to hand!
Gardening gloves are an essential! After all, when you’re digging, moving garden debris from one area to another or even handling seeds, it’s important that your hands are protected.
There are a number of different types of gardening gloves that will make your life a whole lot easier, including heavy duty gloves, latex coated cotton gloves and cotton gloves. But what’s the difference?
Heavy-duty gloves are great when it comes to completing strenuous tasks such digging, carrying firewood and tackling garden debris, whereas synthetic gloves and latex coated cotton gloves are great for a performing general maintenance tasks such as weeding, planting and cleaning.
When you’re completing heavy-duty tasks inside or outside the home, particularly those that require strenuous floor work, it’s important that you protect your kneecaps.
And there are a number of comfortable and durable kneepads that can be worn on the skin or on top of clothing, allowing you to complete vigorous activities knowing that your kneecaps are protected. So, whether you’re planting bulbs or laying the foundations for a new patio, you should always wear kneepads.
If you’re cutting a hedge or using power tools and equipment, it’s always advisable to wear a pair of safety goggles in order to prevent flying debris from entering your eyes.
At the same time, when you are using any noisy machinery or equipment, you should always take the necessary steps to protect your ears, especially if you have to raise your voice to talk to someone whilst using noisy equipment as you could potentially damage your ears.
With this in mind, you should always wear a pair of ear protectors. These are relatively easy to get a hold of and you will find them in any good hardware or gardening store!
You should never let an unpredictable downpour put you off when it comes to staying on top of your gardening! Instead, you should always make sure that you have plenty of waterproofs to hand that you can put on should the heavens open!
When you’re tackling uneven terrain or splodging through wet soil, you should always make sure that you are wearing a good, sturdy pair of wellies.
These will not only allow you to keep your feet warm, dry and comfortable; a pair of wellies with a good grip will also prevent you from slipping or falling!
And thanks to recent fashion trends, wellies are now classed as being cool and socially acceptable! Available in a wide range of colours, patterns and designs, they really have come a long way in the style stakes.
If you’re cutting a hedge or using power tools and equipment, it’s always advisable to wear a pair of safety goggles in order to prevent flying debris from entering your eyes. And if you already wear glasses, don’t worry. You can buy prescription safety glasses here so you can protect your eyes without compromising your vision.Previous PostNext Post
