I have had my first few raspberries this year, but not sure or whether to prune back bush or not and is this the right time to do so? Help me please?

It depends if your raspberries are Summer or Autumn fruiting ones.
Do you know the category they are in?

If Autumn fruiting then now is fine, cut hard back, near to the ground as you can get. They will grow new canes next Spring, fruit Autumn

If summer, different pruning entirely. Do NOT cut hard back unless you are sure what type they are or you will lose your 2018 crop

Yes be careful in that department, there’s plenty of resources available online should you need it. But don’t overestimate the need for information when gardening, if you want there are many people here to help.
