Boris’s ideas have got me thinking

Does anyone else have any homemade tricks up their sleeves that they are willing to share?

possibly one that ‘everyone’ knows about – i always make my own seed ‘pots’ out of newspaper and for transfer pots I use cardboard tube from loo or kitchen rolls

I’ve thought of another one – homemade wasp traps.
I use the same method as on this pinterest post:

Diet coke bottle, cut in half, funnel inside the bottom half and pointing down, put anything sweet in there. Does the trick!

    Hey Donna,

I had a look at your link – I make a mosquito trap exactly as they say further down that page!

Hot water and brown sugar, then a teaspoon of yeast. Works an absolute treat!

Donna&Jen – what great ideas! I have bought so many wasp traps in the past and cant quite bring myself to empty them, so end up just chucking them (such a waste of money, I know!) a DIY coke bottle sounds perfect!!! I’ll save them up for next year – I’m guessing it would be great for catching flies too!!??

Harold – It sure is! I’ve spent the weekend bagging the last of the leaves up (thank goodness it is the end of leaf-raking season!) … my veggies will love the leaf mould in the spring!

    Cheers everyone!
